TG Designs is owned by Tina and Gene King. Wood is in our blood. For generations both of our families were connected to woodworking, crafting and carpentry. Although we started in different directions, with Gene having a military career and Tina working as a musician and teacher, we have drawn on our family's history and now are following in their traditions. Our goal is to revive the craftsmanship of the past and give it new life for today's generation.

We are located in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. We love the simple life, and we appreciate the beauty and magnificence of our natural surroundings. Every day is a blessed gift and we believe in living each day to its fullest. This is the lifestyle we try to recreate in our work.
ABOUT OUR WORK
As an artist who creates beautiful paintings uses different pigments and with different brush strokes, we wood artists employ the color and texture of the wood and the strokes of various techniques to create a work of art.

To accomplish this, we must see and understand the beauty and nature of the wood we use. In laying out the wood for each piece, we make the figure of the grain flow so there is as much continuity as possible. We use the color of the wood or contrasting colors to highlight the design. Because wood contains such a depth and texture, we enjoy complimenting and displaying these characteristics so others can appreciate the wood’s beauty. As sculptors, we remove all the unnecessary wood to reveal the images and shapes that we desire. In creating each unique piece, we strive for integrity of skill in our work that will stand the test of time.

The process of making a custom piece is enjoyable and creative. Our aim is to hear what you, our client, wants so that we can make a beautiful piece that will meet your needs and your aesthetic values.
The focus and power of the Ruskin quote is the synergy of both love and skill. What we s focus on at TG Designs is combining our woodworking skills with our love for wood and our love for people. From our rural Kentucky studio, we create wooden kitchen utensils, wooden ornaments, fine carvings, and customized woodworking masterpieces.
